I had the pleasure of photographing the {PFam} and {SFam} in downtown Philly during my trip.
This is post 2/4 from our time on the East Coast, I still have the HFam preview as well as a personal post about our fabulous time there.
First up, the adorable {PFam}
Then the absolutely fantastic {SFam}. These girls are ridiculously cute!!
The first of three posts for the wonderful families I was able to photograph during our time in New Jersey and Philadelphia!
This first set is from the T & H Families who both were photographed at the Smithville Mansion in Eastampton, NJ
The settings definitely made me envious of the East Coast, until I came home and saw the mountains
My favorites from the {TFam}
Such a beautiful location. These families were SO much fun.
Here are a few favorites from the {HFam}!
Thank you so much T & H Families. It was an honor.
I will have another preview for my Philly families shortly and a few more posts about our fantastic trip to the East Coast!
If you go back a few posts, you can see me talking about “not being a studio photographer”
but yes, I am a co-owner of a studio space!
A few of you came out to our GRAND OPENING and saw our space in June
but I thought (since I was in there cleaning today) I would take some updated snapshots of our cute little baby…
(please forgive the crazy lighting, wasn’t trying to go pro with these!)
(hey look, I had BOTH my Martilena bags with me today! ^)

Our little dress up corner, overflowing with capes today courtesy of the Supehero Mini Sessions
Our little baby booties from a local consignor and the cutest little girl in Castle Rock rockin' the canvas!

Back of the store- where we show people the awesomeness of their photos (unless you are Amy and Joey!
Nope I’m not a “studio photographer” but I love having this space.
And I share it with one of the most rockin’ chicks around.
Work in progress!
The digital age is upon us and no photographer can resist the call…
Okay that sounds seriously intimidating or incredibly cheesy. But honestly, you can’t be a photographer these days without confronting digital.
Do you sell digital files? Can I have my digital files? Why are your digital files more expensive than a print?
I saw an article today from Take Off Your Mommy Goggles (love them!) about digital.
http://networkedblogs.com/luiuK
And i think it’s probably the most well written explanation of what we as quality professional photographers worry about when we hand over digital files to our clients.
I had also seen a great explanation on Chelsea Lewis Photography’s blog about the benefits of professional prints
http://chelsealewisphotography.com/blog/?p=2786
That being said, I do give my clients digital files. I’ve gone back and forth and up and down over the past four and a half years but there is no right or wrong answer to this debate. I do believe there are compromises.
I try and educate my clients on the benefits of using a professional lab for large prints and products.
I display during consultation sessions the differences between a professional print and one done in a consumer lab.
I give my clients the freedom to own their images in a low resolution format (up to 8×10)
I honor my clients and trust them to use me when they are putting works of art on their walls.
If you have ever had the “digital debate” with your professional, please understand we’re not trying to hold you hostage.
We trust you with your images, we know that they are priceless to you.
We are just trying to give you the best service possible (and still feed our families too).
Take the time to understand what digital means in the relationship with your professional. Everyone is different.
Like I said, there is no right or wrong to this debate.
Only what works for you
And in case you needed a little visualization, here’s some comparisons done by other talented photogs

Go ahead and put those in your scrapbooks, photo albums…but please respect your walls! They need love too!
Why Beloved?
“”Women are not loved because they are beautiful, in fact, they are beautiful because they are loved”"
After many years of sitting in front of my computer with my OTHER best frienemy (Adobe) I realized music just wasn’t cutting it.
I have ADD and although music is one of my greatest passions, I just couldn’t sit for an hour to edit without something more stimulating.
Enter the audiobook.
It just so happened that I was editing a beautiful #beloved session when I heard this quote,
“In the center of the shelves right above the fireplace sat a black-and-white photograph of Jane and me on the day of our wedding. It was how I hoped I would always look when standing by her side… But, strangely, there are no more photographs of Jane and me as a couple on the shelves. In the albums, there are dozens of snapshots that the kids had taken, but none had ever found its way into a frame. Over the years, Jane had suggested a number of times that we have another portrait made, but in the steady rush of life and work, it never quite claimed my attention. Now, I sometimes wonder why we never made the time”- NS
Why is it then, that we wouldn’t make time for something as important as remembering why we are with the person we chose?
A #beloved session is an experience. It’s reconnecting with the one you love.
I truly believe that it shows how much beauty can radiate from someone if they are with the person that makes them the happiest.
If you subscribe to the belief that it is important to capture the essence of your family for generations to come
then the idea of having photographs of you and your significant other should be no stretch of the imagination.
I want to remember each time in my life, where better to start then with the one who helped me start it all?
These pictures were taken over a month ago, but I thought they would be so much more appropriate today.
Little A is not a child I will ever forget, she was the first (and hopefully only) birth I have ever missed!
I’m still kicking myself, missing this beautiful baby coming into the world. But it has been such an honor to watch her grow.
Happy first bday Little A, you and your family are the best!
