When I first changed over from a website to a blogsite, I gave away a “Beloved” Mommy + Me session to one of my fans.
The girl who won happens to be a wonderful friend.
I could go on and on about what an amazing mommy she is, but pictures tell more than I ever could with words.

I've been photographing this kiddo for two years next month, she just keeps getting more and more beautiful.
Earlier today I was looking over some material from #WPPI and I was reminded of a quote that really resonated with me,
“If you want to make work that moves people, you have to be moved while making it”
This next picture is the total summation of that concept
Thank you Mommy J and Little A for being so patient with me and allowing me to be such a huge part of your lives.
We love you both immensely, you are a testament to how difficult it is to not get attached to clients
(this last one is just indulging me, cause Little A and my little man have wonderful moments together)
Why Beloved?
“”Women are not loved because they are beautiful, in fact, they are beautiful because they are loved”"
After many years of sitting in front of my computer with my OTHER best frienemy (Adobe) I realized music just wasn’t cutting it.
I have ADD and although music is one of my greatest passions, I just couldn’t sit for an hour to edit without something more stimulating.
Enter the audiobook.
It just so happened that I was editing a beautiful #beloved session when I heard this quote,
“In the center of the shelves right above the fireplace sat a black-and-white photograph of Jane and me on the day of our wedding. It was how I hoped I would always look when standing by her side… But, strangely, there are no more photographs of Jane and me as a couple on the shelves. In the albums, there are dozens of snapshots that the kids had taken, but none had ever found its way into a frame. Over the years, Jane had suggested a number of times that we have another portrait made, but in the steady rush of life and work, it never quite claimed my attention. Now, I sometimes wonder why we never made the time”- NS
Why is it then, that we wouldn’t make time for something as important as remembering why we are with the person we chose?
A #beloved session is an experience. It’s reconnecting with the one you love.
I truly believe that it shows how much beauty can radiate from someone if they are with the person that makes them the happiest.
If you subscribe to the belief that it is important to capture the essence of your family for generations to come
then the idea of having photographs of you and your significant other should be no stretch of the imagination.
I want to remember each time in my life, where better to start then with the one who helped me start it all?
Yup, I’ve been slacking. Slacker might be my middle name…
Not really, I have good reason.
For those of you didn’t know- side note. Debra Dean Photography & I signed a lease on a studio at the end of May (more info to come).
Then, I had a vacation. Right after, I jumped on a plane to photograph a wedding.
So Ames, this has nothing to do with how much I love you. Thankfully, I know you know that.
Now that the explanations on posting are out of the way, I’d LOVE to introduce the new Mr. & Mrs. O!

For some strange reason, this was by far my favorite photo. I think it was her laughing and smiling.
Most of you are aware, I don’t do large weddings. The weddings I do cover are few and far between.
That being said, I’ve known Amy since before she was old enough to drive (no lie)
And Ames, I found it quite ironic that Dashboard came on Pandora while I was posting these….
anyways, it was a huge honor for her to ask me to photograph their wedding.
We never know how we affect and inspire people and Amy was there for me through some pretty rough spots when I was young.
Although we had a very different kind of friendship, I felt like she was a sister at times. Irreplaceable.
Thank you Amy (and Joey!) for letting me share your day. It meant the world to me.
I overdid it a *little*
This girl rocks all my socks.
Thank you Amy for everything you’ve allowed me to see, be a part of and share with you in your life.
Thank you Joey for trusting Amy with the crazy photographer.
Congrats.
(Yes, there are more previews coming. Promise!)
There is absolutely nothing better than a #beloved session.
They make me so happy to shoot and even happier to edit.
And to be honest, my husband likes me much more after I’ve photographed one…because I cherish the time we have together more.
This is what beloved looks like…
I just love not having to fake this.
Never having to say, “okay now look happy” or “talk about something but don’t look uncomfortable”
Never having to force a kiss.
Truly getting to know a relationship and seeing love in print.
Thank you for sharing with me T&S! Congrats.
